Walker’s Point is a weird and wonderful neighborhood that has become the dining destination of Milwaukee. I have the good fortune to live in Walker’s Point which means I don’t even break a sweat hiking to the local chocolate shop, an urban cheese factory, a craft distillery, MKE Brewery and dozens of the best restaurants in town.
Despite this being an incredible neighborhood for foodies, we are really lacking some casual dining. Particularly in the brunch arena, which as you may know is my favorite thing ever.
Well not anymore, fellow brunch lovers! Come on down to Walker’s Point and have brunch with me at Engine Company No 3 where breakfast is served Tuesday through Friday from 7:00AM to 2:00PM and Saturday + Sunday from 9:00AM to 2:00PM.
Luckily for me, I’m on staycation at the moment which means I got to test out the goods on opening day.
This new restaurant is housed in the renovated fire station of Engine Company No 3 (as you may have guessed). It’s beautifully restored and chock full of fire house paraphernalia. This morning, the fire house garage door was wide open for a cool breeze & view of the 1947 Cadillac Ambulance parked outside.
I started off with a cappuccino and had the Wisconsin Omelette with onions, peppers and Hook’s 2yr cheddar for breakfast with a side of hash browns and sourdough toast with homemade cinnamon butter & strawberry jam.
Bryce ordered the Egg Salad Sandwich with the house potatoes and a homemade pickle.
The portions & prices were great. Oddly enough, the cinnamon butter and homemade pickle were my favorite parts of the meal. Everything was tasty except for my hash browns which were a bit too gray and greasy for my liking. I have no doubt they will improve with time!
Overall, the food was delicious and I’m just so happy to have a brunch place in the neighborhood! Come check it out and save me a seat — by this weekend I’ll bet they have standing room only.
