I started this morning with a chocolate cupcake and the 2nd season of American Horror Story on Netflix. I was about five minutes in (somewhere around Adam Levine getting his arm ripped off) when I realized I didn’t want to start my year that way. So instead, I’m welcoming 2014 with a day of tea, inspiration, and meditation. Oh, but don’t worry, I did finish the cupcake with my big mug of tea.
For the first few months of 2013 I was committed to the regular practice of meditation, manifestation, and journaling but as the year moved on, life distracted me. A new job and a wedding are fairly understandable excuses however the past few weeks I’ve been missing those practices and went back to it. That’s also partially to blame for my lack of blogging. I wasn’t in the right place to write. Nothing I wrote felt authentic. I was grasping at sparkly straws trying make this blog like every other when this all started out just so I could document what made me happy & whole. I’m going back to that too.
Really, I’m writing this just so I can share that I believe the new year is a time for rebirth, a chance to better yourself, but I think it’s important to remember you don’t have to wait for the new year. If you stumble, you don’t have to wait to better yourself – not even for a day. So what if I ate a cupcake this morning (okay, two cupcakes)? That doesn’t mean I can’t make healthy choices the rest of the day. My day is not lost, no moment is a waste.
In 2014, I want to live every moment to the fullest. Life is beautiful.

Happy New Year!
