5 Minute Dinner

With the release of Michael Pollan’s latest book, Cooked, he’s been around a lot lately talking about how people don’t really cook anymore. How everyone is obsessed with watching cooking shows, but no one can do it themselves. How every meal is cooked by Chef Mike (aka the microwave).

I didn’t realize until recently just how true this is. Many people just don’t cook their own meals anymore. At most they buy frozen food and cook that into some form of sustenance. I hope this doesn’t seem judgmental, but I just don’t get that. Don’t get me wrong, Bryce and I eat out at restaurants our fair share, but I can tell you it’s almost never for convenience. We’re just lucky to have a number of fantastic restaurants in our area that we take advantage of. Otherwise, we cook at home. Mostly from scratch, but I will say some pre-made food is incredibly helpful (like the pasta below). It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s delicious. Cook at home, my friends!


I seriously made this dinner in a little over 5 minutes. I bought fresh refrigerated pasta from RP’s and cooked it up with olive oil, garlic, and red chili pepper flakes. Paired it with a cucumber goat cheese salad drizzled with pomegranate balsamic vinegar and called it a night. 7 ingredients + 5 minutes = a delicious, healthy dinner
